"0° 00' 00" - The First Frisbee Team in the World!"
We are an Ultimate Frisbee group playing casual and friendly pickup games in Greenwich, Southeast London. Where we play: Royal Greenwich Park, between the Queen's House and Royal Observatory on the prime meridian (see map at left) (Note that Wednesdays during winter months, the game is not in Greenwich Park because of early park closing - see below) When we play: Sundays We play every Sunday throughout the year from approximately 1-3pm (throwing from 1, game starts by 1:30 latest). Absolutely anyone is welcome to come and play with us. We'd appreciate if you can sign up for the event, which is posted each week on our facebook page so we know what numbers are likely to be (and to ensure that you are notified in the rare event a game is called off due to weather, low numbers, etc). Wednesday Evening (Summer) In season (April to October), we also play on Wednesday evenings in Greenwich Park from 18:15ish till it gets dark (or until the call of the pub can be resisted no more). Absolutely anyone is welcome to come and play with us. As with Sundays, all games are posted as an event on our facebook page. Please sign up so we know what numbers are likely to be (and can notify you in the rare event a game is called off due to weather, low numbers, etc). Wednesday Evening (Winter) On Wednesday evenings in the winter 'off-season' we often play up the road at the lighted fields in Charlton Park. As there is a charge to book the lighted fields, we ask players to chip in £5 each for playing on winter wednesdays (however, first-timers to our game at Charlton Park are free). As above, check the group for event postings and to sign up. Charlton Park fields are here: https://goo.gl/maps/ozBRje4siTs ------------------------------------------------ "Once there was an Ultimate Frisbee Team in Greenwich, South-East London... by the light of the moon and under the watchful gaze of the Prime Meridian they would play and play... Then the group vanished without a trace. Years later, a time came when other frisbee players happened upon that sacred ground, between the Stars and the Queens, and the gentle sound of an Ultrastar-175 gracefully spinning through the air was heard again amongst the rustling grasses. That time is now. That group is us. Join us." |
